Welcome to the Warborough Parish Council website.

Warborough and Shillingford are two neighbouring villages located in rural South Oxfordshire.  Warborough has one of the finest village greens in the country and there has been a crossing over the River Thames at Shillingford since the 14th century. 

This site contains community news and information about Parish Council initiatives.

County Council Area Stewardship Fund

As part of Oxfordshire County Council's Big Society Fund vision, OCC have established the Area Stewardship Fund for highway-related "community enhancement projects," (but not potholes!) This fund could run to almost £1M for 2011/12 and is to be split across 14 localities.

Warborough Parish Council has submitted two bids: to replace the railings at the entrance to Six Acres field, and to provide a pedestrain refuge across the A4074 at Shillingford.  

Our bid document can be downloaded here.  The County Council decisions are likely to be published by the end of the year.

Parish Council meeting - Wednesday 1 June

The June Parish Council meeting will take place on Wednesday, 1 June, starting at 7:30pm in the Greet Hall, Warborough.

PAGE Update

PAGE will be giving an update on the campaign at the next Parish Council meeting on Wednesday, 1 June at 7:30pm.

Come along to find out the latest news on the County Council Strategy, how you can help in 2011, the latest fundraising news and also view the local archaeology survey results.

Are you going to Warborough Fayre?

Warborough Fayre is to be held on Saturday 13th August on the Green South. 

A village event including pig roast, silver band, classic cars, games, cream teas, raffle, morris dancing, crafts and more.
 
In the evening we have barn dance at the Greet Hall, from 7.30pm.  Music from the very lively Oxford band "Mouse & Trousers" with caller Gareth Morris.  Guaranteed to get you on your feet. Licensed bar and ploughman's supper.

£12 for adults.  Concessions for children.
 
Would you like to help?  We need people to organise or help on the day and clear up afterwards.

Allotments

Another strip of land has recently been ploughed and prepared for new allotment plots.  We welcome all the new plot holders.  There are a number of new plots available, so please contact Steve Thompson if you would like to take this opportunity to grow your own fruit and vegetables.  

From Autumn 2011, we will be increasing the allotment fees to £10 per annum.  Allotment fees are collected to cover the cost of providing stand pipes and maintaining the hedges.  The water costs for 2010-11 were not covered by the current annual rents, so we have had no choice but to increase the fees.  The cost of a Warborough allotment is still a fraction of the national average and alot less than that charged by neighbouring parishes.

 

 

Mary Evans

The Council would like to thank Mary for her long years of valuable service as the Parish Council's nominated governor to St Laurence School.

Councillors

Following several years service, Moray Scott Dalgleish has resigned from the Parish Council.  We would like to thank Moray for the contributions and enthusiasm that he has brought to the Council, and we wish him well for future.

We welcome Will Partridge of The Green South as a new councillor.
